What is Core Team?

Meet our dynamic Core Team—a passionate group of volunteers dedicated to fostering unity and harmony within our community! With hearts ablaze for our mission, we work tirelessly to craft and implement policies and regulations that align with our fundamental philosophy: bringing young adults and those young at heart ever closer to Christ our Lord. Together, our task is to continue to nourish a vibrant community where faith flourishes, connections deepen, and the love of Christ shines brightly.

Core Team Commitment

As the Core Team, we’re on a mission to ignite a stronger understanding of our Roman Catholic faith and cultivate a vibrant sense of fellowship through peer-to-peer ministry. How do we do it? By planning and making decisions around our dynamic lineup of events that bring us together in faith, friendship, and growth. From our transformative Weekend Retreats to engaging Bible Studies series and lively Fellowship events, there’s something for everyone to dive into and explore.

Parental Advisors

In January 2023, Johann and Ana Uriarte assumed the role of full-time parental advisors, a responsibility they graciously accepted at the beginning of this year. They consider this opportunity a blessing and approach it with humility, trusting in God’s guidance for themselves and their ministry. With a deep-rooted connection to the Salesians, inspired by St. John Bosco, both Johann and Ana serve as Formators on the local and provincial councils of the Salesian Cooperators. This third order of the Salesian Society,

also established by St. John Bosco, emphasizes bringing the Salesian spirit and charism into the world. Central to their ministry is the Salesian model, which prioritizes the Home as a welcoming space, the Church as a source of meaning and evangelization, the School as a site of learning, and the Playground as a venue for fostering relationships and joy. Johann and Ana hope to expand awareness of the Salesian charism and its principles, making it a familiar concept in households as they continue their journey forward.

Spiritual Advisor

In 2023, Johann Uriarte stepped into the role of spiritual advisor for the LA/SGV ministry, acting as the representative of Fr. Mel Trinidad, SDB, Provincial for the Salesians of the Western United States.

The official announcement was made on January 15, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Salesian Youth Retreat Center, where many LA/SGV Search members and the Salesian family were present after a beautiful morning mass presided by Fr. Trinidad.

Johann Uriarte is currently taking on two tasks, one as a Parental Advisor with his wife Ana and one as a Spiritual Adviser. Just like any dedicated father, he embraces this responsibility with love and devotion.

Background:

Many in the Search Community know Johann’s story—he initially set out on a path toward priesthood, but God had a different plan. He found his soulmate in his godly wife, Ana, and together, they embarked on a beautiful journey of faith and devotion.

Despite this change in direction, Johann’s dedication to the Salesian faith never wavered. As a Salesian Cooperator, he and Ana have wholeheartedly embraced their mission to live out the spirit and charism of the Salesians of Don Bosco in the world. Their commitment to nourishing their knowledge of the Catholic religion and spreading love and compassion to all they encounter is truly inspiring. Johann’s journey reminds us that God’s plans are often unexpected but always filled with love and purpose.
